Mars in astrocartography
Mars is the planet of action. In astrology it stands for energy, drive, courage, competition, desire and the ability to fight for what you want, and for anger, impatience, accidents and conflict when that energy has nowhere good to go. It is the traditional lesser malefic, which sounds ominous, but in modern astrology it is mostly read as fuel: the question is what you burn it on.

Who does well on Mars lines
Astrologers often point to athletes, soldiers and emergency workers, surgeons, founders and anyone in a competitive field as the people Mars lines suit best. If your birth chart already has a strong Mars (in Aries or Scorpio, or close to an angle), its lines are read as familiar territory. If you are someone who recharges in quiet, a Mars line may feel like a place to visit with a goal, not to live.
Mars retrograde and your lines
Every two years or so, Mars appears to move backward for about two and a half months. People born during a Mars retrograde are said to direct their drive inward: strategic rather than impulsive. Astrologers suggest their Mars lines may feel more like places of inner determination than outward conflict.
Your Mars sign and aspects
Mars in Aries or Capricorn is read as strong and focused; in Libra as fighting for fairness; in Cancer as protective; in Pisces as quietly persistent. Mars conjunct Jupiter adds ambition and luck to its lines; Mars square Saturn frustration and endurance; Mars in hard aspect with Pluto intensity.
