William Herschel discovered Uranus in 1781, the first planet found with a telescope, and astrologers have read it ever since as the planet of change: invention, rebellion and freedom. It takes about 84 years to go around the zodiac, spending about seven years in each sign, so everyone born in the same stretch shares a Uranus sign. Astrologers read it as a generation's way of breaking with the past, from the new money and materials of Uranus in Taurus to the networked originality of Uranus in Aquarius, its own sign.
