Why the Descendant is the love angle
In a birth chart the Descendant, the point setting on the western horizon, marks the 7th house: partners, marriage and the people we pair up with. So on an astrocartography map, the DSC lines are where each planet sat on your partnership angle. A kind planet there is read as good for relationships; a harsh one as relationships that test you. The other angles matter too. The IC is home life and family, the ASC is attractiveness and how you come across, and the MC is public life, where some people meet partners through work.
The lines most associated with love

Venus DSC gets the attention, but many astrologers prefer the Jupiter DSC for lasting relationships and the Moon DSC or IC for emotional security. It depends on what you want: excitement, stability or a family home.
Lines that complicate love

Keeping it in proportion
A love line describes how a place colours relationships in your life; it doesn't deliver a partner by itself. People on their Venus lines still need to go out and meet people, and plenty of happy couples live far from any line. Use the map for perspective and curiosity, and read lines for career too if you're weighing a move.
