Chiron in astrocartography
Chiron was discovered in 1977, a small icy body on a long, lopsided orbit between Saturn and Uranus. Astrologers named it for the centaur of Greek myth who, wounded by an arrow he could not heal in himself, became the great teacher and healer of heroes. In a birth chart Chiron is read as the wounded healer: a place of sensitivity or old pain that, worked with, becomes wisdom and the capacity to help others. Near a Chiron line, those themes come forward.

An unusual orbit
Chiron takes about 50 years to go around the Sun, but its orbit is so eccentric that it moves through some signs in a couple of years and others in about eight. Its declination also swings widely. This site takes Chiron's position from NASA JPL Horizons, the most authoritative source available, at five-day intervals from 1900 to 2100, interpolated to your birth minute. For births outside those years Chiron is left out of the map.
