Neptune in Aries

What Neptune in Aries means

Neptune is the planet astrologers associate with ideals, dreams, imagination, compassion and faith, and with the dissolving of boundaries, for better and worse. Aries is the first sign, the fire of courage, initiative and the individual. When Neptune moves into Aries it starts a new lap of the zodiac, a cycle of about 165 years, so astrologers read the transit as the birth of new collective ideals: dreams that want to become action, and causes that people are willing to fight for.

The shadow astrologers name is the same fire without Neptune's gentleness: zealotry, confusion about who is fighting whom, and heroes who turn out to be illusions. The advice that usually comes with the transit is to keep the idealism and question the certainty: to act on what you believe while staying open to being wrong.

The dates

Neptune first entered Aries on March 30, 2025, turned retrograde in July and drifted back into Pisces on October 22, 2025. It returned on January 26, 2026 and stays until May 21, 2038, when it enters Taurus, then backs into Aries on October 21, 2038 and leaves for good on March 23, 2039. Neptune turns retrograde every year for about five months; the tables below list all fourteen loops of the passage and every sign change.

The last time Neptune was in Aries

Neptune was last in Aries from 1861 to 1875, which means no one alive today was born with it. Astrologers often point to the causes of those years as the transit's signature: the American Civil War and the end of slavery in the United States, the unification of Italy in 1861 and of Germany in 1871, and the founding of the Red Cross in 1863, when ideals of nationhood, freedom and humanitarian care took shape in action. The children born under this passage, astrologers say, will carry a new version of those questions.

Neptune in Aries in your chart

Find your rising sign in the table below to see which house of your chart Neptune crosses, the area of life where astrologers expect inspiration and also confusion, where boundaries blur and ideals are tested. Your Sun sign's row shows the aspect it makes to your Sun: Aries receives the conjunction, Libra the opposition, and Cancer and Capricorn the squares. Because Neptune moves so slowly, its aspects to the planets in your own chart last for years; the transit chart shows them against your birth chart, and the Neptune sign calculator gives the sign Neptune held when you were born.
