Where Mercury was setting
The Mercury DSC line runs through the places where Mercury was sinking below the western horizon when you were born. In a chart for any of them, Mercury sits on the Descendant, the cusp of the 7th house of partners, contracts, clients and open dealings with others. It is drawn dashed and runs near your Sun DSC line, the sunset line, since Mercury never strays far from the Sun.
What it is associated with
Mercury is exchange: of words, ideas, goods and information. On the Descendant, astrologers read that exchange happening through other people. Relationships here are said to start with conversation and live on it: a partner who is also your best sparring partner, collaborators who finish your sentences, an agent who gets the deal done.
