Manifestors are the one type Human Design reads as built to initiate: a motor reaches the Throat, and the Sacral is open. Here is what makes one, why the strategy is to inform, and what their charts hold, measured on 10,000 birth moments.
The Manifestor at a glance
An example Manifestor chart (one channel, never anyone's own), with the type's strategy, signature and aura, and how common it is on 10,000 birth moments spread evenly over 1950 to 2009.
The channel of Money (21-45) joins the Heart, a motor, to the Throat, with the Sacral open.
Human Design reads type from the defined centers. A Manifestor's chart has a motor connected to the Throat through an unbroken chain of defined channels, and an open Sacral. With the Sacral open, the motor must be one of the other three: the Heart, the Solar Plexus or the Root.
The Solar Plexus reaches the Throat directly through the channels of Openness (12-22) and Transitoriness (35-36), and the Heart through Money (21-45). The Root has no channel to the Throat of its own and gets there by way of other defined centers, such as the Spleen. Openness is the most common channel in Manifestor charts, and the Throat is defined in every one.
The strategy: to inform
The Manifestor is the one type the system says can initiate: start things without waiting for something to respond to or an invitation. Its actions tend to land on other people without warning, so the strategy is to inform the people who will be affected before acting. Informing is not asking permission. The tradition says it clears the resistance a Manifestor would otherwise meet, and teachers often point out that it is easy to forget, because a Manifestor does not feel the need to explain.
Peace and anger
The signature is peace, the feeling of moving freely with nothing in the way. The not-self theme is anger, which Human Design reads as the sign of being controlled, held back or met with resistance, often because the people around were not informed.
The closed aura
Human Design describes the Manifestor's aura as closed and repelling: it pushes outward, and others can feel its impact before a word is said. That is read as part of the design, the force that lets a Manifestor start things, and informing is what softens it for the people nearby.
Emotional, splenic or ego authority
A Manifestor's inner authority is one of three. With the Solar Plexus defined it is emotional, and the tradition advises waiting for clarity before acting, however strong the urge to initiate. Without it, the authority is splenic, the quiet instinct in the moment, or ego manifested, when the Heart connects straight to the Throat and the truth is in what comes out. How common each is among Manifestors is measured below, with the centers, channels and definition Manifestor charts have.
Which inner authority Manifestors have, of the 831 Manifestor charts in the sample. The authority is the first center on the order of precedence that the chart defines.
Emotional, 71%. A defined Solar Plexus rides an emotional wave, so there is no truth in the moment. Clarity comes with time: sleep on big decisions and choose once the feeling has settled, neither high nor low.
Splenic, 20%. The Spleen speaks once, quietly and in the moment: an instinct about what is healthy or safe. It does not repeat itself, so the practice is to trust that first knowing.
Ego (manifested), 9%. The Heart connects to the Throat, so the truth is in what comes out: say what you want, out loud, and listen for whether your will is really behind it.
The eight channels defined most often in Manifestor charts, with the share of Manifestors that have each. On average a Manifestor has 3.4 defined channels.
How the defined centers of Manifestor charts hang together: in one piece, or in two or more separate areas.
Of the 831 Manifestor charts, 57% have single definition, 38% have split definition, 4.8% have triple split definition and 0.6% have quadruple split definition.

How common are Manifestors?
8% of charts on 10,000 birth moments spread evenly over 1950 to 2009, far fewer than Generators (38%), Manifesting Generators (31%) or Projectors (22%).
What does the Manifestor strategy to inform mean?
Letting the people who will be affected know what you are about to do, before you do it. It is not asking permission; the tradition says it lowers the resistance a Manifestor's actions can meet.
What authority does a Manifestor have?
Emotional, splenic or ego manifested. On the site's 10,000 birth moments, 71% of Manifestors have emotional authority, 20% splenic and 9% ego manifested.
What is the difference between a Manifestor and a Manifesting Generator?
Both have a motor connected to the Throat. A Manifesting Generator also has a defined Sacral, so it responds first; a Manifestor has an open Sacral and can initiate without waiting to respond.
